Edel believes every woman deserves expert, compassionate care for her pelvic health, at every stage of life. Too many women are told that leaking, pain or discomfort is just something to live with. Edel has built her career on changing that.
Edel specialises in complex cases across all aspects of female pelvic health. This includes endometriosis, chronic pelvic pain, bowel conditions, and complex musculoskeletal presentations where several factors involving the pelvis and core are at play. She is often the clinician women turn to when their symptoms have not been fully explained or resolved elsewhere, and she takes the time to understand the whole picture.
Originally from Ireland, Edel graduated from Ulster University with an honours degree in Physiotherapy. She went on to complete a Professional Postgraduate Diploma in Obstetrics and Gynaecology from the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland, a qualification held by only a handful of pelvic health physiotherapists in the world.
After running her own successful pelvic health practice in Edinburgh for more than 12 years, Edel moved to practice in London in 2023. She is now Clinical Director of Pelvic Health at Beyond Health, bringing over 19 years of experience across pelvic health, musculoskeletal physiotherapy and elite sport.
Her postgraduate training spans pelvic health, diagnostic ultrasound, scar therapy, breast cancer care, acupuncture, and musculoskeletal and sports injuries. She continues to train regularly so that every woman she sees benefits from the latest evidence-based care.
Edel is also a passionate educator. She is Co-Owner of LETO, a learning and development platform for pelvic health physiotherapists and women’s health professionals. She also leads pelvic health for the Menopause Research Education Fund (MREF), speaks widely, has been published in magazines and newspapers, and mentors clinicians in pelvic health. Her goal is simple: to raise the profile of pelvic health physiotherapy so that every woman can access the specialist support she needs.
Above all, Edel wants women to understand their bodies, feel confident in them and accept nothing less than the best care.
Edel is an affiliate member of the Pelvic, Obstetric and Gynaecological Physiotherapy (POGP) network and a member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP). She is a recommended practitioner for pelvic girdle pain through The Pelvic Partnership, a certified Mummy MOT® Practitioner and a Holistic Core Restore Coach®.
Outside the clinic, Edel is a mum to two young boys and loves to travel, always looking for the best coffee wherever she goes.
